What Causes

Lines & Wrinkles

Above & Around Lips?

Heredity - Smoking - Aging?

The Truth:

Lips have many underlying living tissue layers. These connective layers are attached to the skin surface that surrounds our lips. When these deep tissues become dehydrated, they begin to constrict, pull, and tug the skin around the lips unnaturally. This results in what I call a "drawstring effect" as seen in this photo to the right.

As the tissues beneath your lips begin to shrink and wither from extreme and prolonged dehydration (they are in a state of atrophy), this shrinking causes a drawstring effect, because it pulls the tissue to which it is attached (tissues beneath your upper lip lines), and because the skin above your lips is attached to the tissues being pulled and drawn downward, "puckering" of the skin occurs, which we refer to as lines and wrinkles above the lips.

Could You Have Caused Your Own Wrinkles?

You may be thinking this does make sense, but how have "I" caused my own wrinkles?
It's surprisingly simple: As women we naturally assume that anything creamy is very moisturizing and obviously good for us.
If you have wrinkles above your lips, whether they're just forming or have been with you for quite some time, you have worn lipstick, or other wax stick products, or lip balms with wax derivatives or petroleum by-products, for as long as you can remember.

Sad Realities of Lip Product Formulation

Most lip products contain wax or wax derivatives, which hold or bind the formulation together. Emollients are added to the wax foundation to give the product a creamy feel. As women, we have been conditioned to believe anything creamy is also moisturizing. As lip products are concerned, nothing could be further from the truth.

When lip products that contain wax, wax derivatives, and petroleum-by products (all recognized for their ability to repel moisture) are regularly applied to the lip surface over an extended period of time, the lips' innate ability to keep its tissues hydrated naturally, is compromised, and eventually ceases to function at all.

Over time, this prolonged state of dehydration results in the loss of lip volume, vertical lines on the lip surface, the onset of lines along the upper and lower lip lines, and the dreaded and feared lines which extend above the lip and can also extend below the lips.

If action is not taken that will interrupt this process, the lips will continue to shrink in volume, the vertical lip lines on the lip surface will become more prominent and increase in quantity, and lines above and below the lips will get deeper and extend further upward or downward, and their quantity will increase.

What can I do that is really going to work?

First, answer these questions Quickly and Honestly:

If it were possible, would I like to have young lips?

Could my lips be softer?

Could my lips be fuller?

Do I look pale without lipstick?

Do my lips ever peel?

Do my lips look old?

Do my lips feel rough and anything but smooth?

Does my lipstick bleed?

Would I like to interrupt my lips aging process?

Do I lick my lips often?

Have I worn lipstick for more than 2 years?

Would I like to prevent wrinkles above my lips?

Do I have lip wrinkles on my lip surface?

Do my lips seem to be getting smaller?

Could my upper lip line be more well defined?

Do I ever pick skin off my lips?

Can I see any lines forming at my lip borders?

Have lines crossed over my lip border onto the tissue?

Do I already have lines above or below my lips?

Little Known Lip Facts

Lips are more misunderstood and mistreated than any other body part. They'll be the first to indicate your body is trying to fight off an illness or disease. Lips will be the first to show signs of unhealthy, destructive stress.

The lips aging process can be interrupted and we can assist in restoring the lips to their youthful state. Regardless of your age, your lips CAN be rejuvenated.

Lip Plumpers DO NOT rejuvenate lip tissue. They are a temporary, short-term cosmetic fix that can exacerbate dehydration within the lip tissues.

Lips should not get smaller as you age. They should be smooth with very few lines. Wrinkles above and around your lips are unnecessary.

The lips innate ability to hydrate and moisturize the tissues is compromised, after wax and petroleum based products have been applied to the lips over an extended period. At some point, this natural process ceases to function.

About the Warm Air: According to the former Director of Esthetics at Salt Lake Community College, Joyce Robinson:

" Due to the unique formulation compositions of the LipCare System by Lips 2 Kiss, directing 90 seconds of warm air on the lips and the area above the lips, soon after these formulations have been applied to these areas, has no harmful or detrimental effects whatsoever on the lips or the area above them. As a matter of fact, the warm air in conjunction with this system yields positive results. Using warm air with other products however, not of these same formulations, would not be advisable.

Regardless of your lips present condition, they CAN be rejuvenated and improve.

" I have tried everything on the market plus face exercises, ect. You created a wonderful array of products and you encouraged me to have patience. It is your words of encouragement that keeps me going. Yes I am looking for the overnight cure, but I did better, I found you. You are wonderful. I believe in you. I look at my lip journal and think who is this woman with nice pink lips whose lines are not so deep! Kandis says it has been years of damage and that I need to be faithful and have patience. I'm so glad I listen to her. You are the best. I truly appreciate all you do for me. I realize I still have a ways to go but knowing and seeing the improvements keeps me faithful to my lip regimen!!! Please post this. I want women to know there is help." Kathlen, Boise, Idaho
